Meet the Education Committee

EMWA Professional Education Committee

The EMWA Professional Development Committee (EPDC) is a key body within the European Medical Writers Association (EMWA) responsible for designing, managing, and delivering the organization’s educational and training offerings, and organizing virtual and face-to-face conferences.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Development: The EPDC develops and maintains EMWA’s structured learning pathway, including the EMWA Professional Development Programme (EPDP), which supports members in building and certifying skills in medical writing and related fields.
  • Workshop Oversight: The committee curates and coordinates the wide range of workshops offered at EMWA’s biannual conferences, ensuring content is relevant, high-quality, and meets the needs of both new and experienced medical writers.
  • Trainer Support and Standards: The EPDC supports trainers in developing new workshops, maintains teaching standards, and ensures that all educational content aligns with EMWA’s guidelines and professional standards.
  • Certification Management: It oversees the administration of certificates and specialization tracks within the EPDP, such as those focusing on regulatory writing, medical communications, or pharmacovigilance.
  • New formats development: The EPDC is always in the lookout for new ideas to develop professional educational formats that serve the needs of members.
  • Conferences set-up: all conference-related logistics, as well as mentoring of all speakers at conferences.

The EPDC ensures that EMWA’s education programme remains robust, dynamic, and aligned with industry developments. Through its work, EMWA continues to be a leading provider of professional development for medical writers across Europe.

If you are interested in the educational offerings at EMWA or becoming a workshop leader, the EPDC is the team behind making that possible.

We are always interested in our members’ feedback on our training, and welcome ideas for new workshops and webinars. Please feel free to contact us with your comments, ideas or queries.
