With more than 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, John Owen has built a career dedicated to improving the quality and interoperability of clinical research data. He joined CDISC over a decade ago, initially supporting the development of Therapeutic Area User Guides, and is now Senior Director, Standards Operations. In this role, John guides the delivery of global standards initiatives that strengthen the foundations of connected, high-quality clinical data.
John’s work spans complex US and EU projects, where he brings together diverse teams, optimizes resources, and enhances cross-functional processes to ensure that standards development is efficient, transparent, and aligned with CDISC’s strategic mission. He is also instrumental in identifying new opportunities and partnerships that expand CDISC’s development activities across therapeutic areas and support long-term sustainability.
A Biology graduate from the University of Wales, College of Cardiff, John’s career reflects a deep commitment to advancing data standards that benefit researchers, regulators, and patients alike. His leadership continues to shape CDISC’s role as a global steward of clinical data interoperability.
