MSF16 – Psychology essentials for medical writers

Who it is for

This workshop is aimed at medical writers with little or no experience of writing documents in psychological sciences and who would like to learn more about the study of human behaviours, attitudes, perceptions and emotions. As a foundation workshop, no prerequisites are required.

What it covers

The content will cover the purpose and types of psychology documents, sources used in writing psychology, differences between qualitative and quantitative studies, the use of the American Psychological Association (APA) format, psychology terms, ethics, main tests and measurement used to perform research objectives in various fields. There will be particular emphasis on practical aspects throughout questions and exercises.

Workshop leaders
Alessia Spina

Alessia is a clinical and health psychologist, a research assistant and a medical writer with 10+ years of research experience at IRCCS Policlinico San Donato, a research hospital specialized in cardiovascular treatments.
Her work focuses on psycho-cardiology, exploring the impact of art therapy and environmental psychology interventions in patients with rare and congenital heart diseases. She manages interdisciplinary research projects integrating clinical practice and creative methodologies with a prominent aptitude for medical communications, research manuscripts and grant writing.
She holds degrees in Interpreting and Translation, Psychological Sciences and Techniques, and Clinical Psychology, with expertise in art therapy, sport psychology, therapeutic photography and expressive writing.
