Abstract: The objectives of the webinar will cover identifying key components of an effective publication plan and understanding the professional medical writer’s role in implementing tactics. Participants will be introduced to the publication plan as a strategic roadmap for disseminating research and clinical findings. It comprises key elements such as target audiences, preferred journals or conferences, timelines, and the overall strategy for sharing information effectively. Key steps in publication planning include research into publication and data gaps vs competitors, aligning on publications objectives and audience targets through cross-functional team alignment, and creating content tailored to specific audiences. The crucial role of professional medical writers will be covered, through providing effective publication planning and delivery, including technical, linguistic, and process expertise under author direction aligned to Good Publication Practice (GPP). Highlights of GPP 2022, the latest iteration, will be presented, which sets author and sponsor commitments and adds the latest guidance on publications beyond clinical trials (health economics and outcomes, real-world evidence), social media, plain language summaries, inclusivity and patients as authors.
