For me, the journey of a medical writer is very diverse. As there is no official degree for the professional, we come from all walks of life. It is the stories I hear of how people stepped into medical writing and then developed as freelancers that makes my section in the Medical Writing journal so inspiring and rewarding.

I have been a freelance medical writer and editor for four years now, and previously worked in-house for a high-impact journal. It has been a journey of discovery and learning; challenging but so rewarding. I have been the chair of the EMWA Freelance Business Group for nearly 2 years and section editor for 3 years.

The OOOO section aims to give readers insights into the lives of other freelances and offer useful tips and advice on being a freelancer, setting up and finding clients, plus all the other logistics that go behind running yourself as a business.

If you’d like to contribute with your story and your tips then get in touch.
